ABOUT SCHOOL HOUSE SPOOLS

BORN ON A PRINT FARM

School House Spools began on a print farm. Back then, we were the ones keeping a big room full of printers fed, and we learned quickly that not every spool of filament is created equal. A color that drifted from one order to the next, or a spool that had soaked up moisture on the shelf, could cost us time and prints. So we set out to make the 3D printer filament we always wished we could buy.

That print farm is its own separate business today, and School House Spools has grown into a filament company in its own right. We're proud of where we started, and even happier to be making great filament for hobbyists, makers, and other print farms.

The print farm is based in Lismore, Minnesota, a very small town it moved to specifically to help create jobs. We're proud of that, and we plan to expand our own warehousing to Lismore as well, which will mean faster fulfillment for our West Coast customers.

CONSISTENT BY DESIGN

Buy a color today and it will match the same color a year from now. Every batch is color matched, so your reorders blend right in with the spools you already have.

Moisture is the quiet enemy of a good print, so we dry our filament twice. The raw filament resin is dried before extrusion, and then the finished filament is bulk dried again before it's packaged with desiccant and boxed. Many brands skip that second step. We don't, and because the bulk drying happens before packaging, the moisture is out of the filament before it ever goes in the box. Every spool is ready to print right out of the box.

BULK 3D PRINTER FILAMENT: 5 KG AND 10 KG SPOOLS FOR PRINT FARMS

Our 10 kg spool in Transparent Antrovirens was the talk of 3D Printopia 2026, and it was recently featured in a Filament Stories post on Instagram and TikTok.

Our filament is designed to run on stock Bambu Lab profiles, so there's no digging through settings or building custom profiles. Load the spool, pick the profile, and print. It's Bambu Lab compatible filament that simply works.

We're also working to get our filament profiles built right into Orca Slicer. They're currently in review through a pull request, so keep an eye out.

Whether you print a few things a week or run a whole farm, we have a spool size to fit. Choose from 5 kg and 10 kg spools for fewer spool swaps and better bulk value. We supply print farms of every size, not just hobbyists, so if you need bulk 3D printer filament in volume, get in touch and we'll put together a quote.

A FILAMENT FOR EVERY PROJECT

We make more than one kind of filament, so you can pick the right material for the job. Our lineup includes PLA, PLA+, Matte PLA, Silk PLA, and PLA gradients, along with PETG, Matte PETG, Transparent PETG, and PETG gradients. For tougher parts, there's PCTG, and for flexible prints, there's TPU. Browse all of our 3D printer filament to find your next favorite spool.

PETG AND TPU BUILT FOR REAL-WORLD USE

There's a reason our PETG lineup runs so deep. The print farm we grew out of made parts for outdoor and industrial use, and those parts needed quality PETG that could stand up to heat and tough working conditions. That standard came along with us, and it's why our PETG filament is built to last.

We're having fun with color, too. We plan to add many more PETG and TPU gradient filaments, with pretty color transitions you can print straight from the spool.

PANTONE MATCHED SCHOOL COLOR FILAMENT

Our school color collection is one of our favorite things to grow. Every color is Pantone matched to a school's official colors, so your team spirit shows up in your prints just the way it should. We currently carry 16 colors, and our goal is to reach 100 by the end of 2027.

You might notice the color names are generic, and that's intentional. To steer clear of any trademark issues, we keep the names general while we work toward getting approval directly from the schools. Our plan is to reach out to each one. We want to do this the right way, and we'll keep adding colors as we go.

SEE US IN PERSON

3D Printopia 2026 on September 26 and 27 was our very first expo, and it was a standout debut. The response from the 3D printing community was incredible, and we can't wait to do it again.

Next up, we plan to be at 3D++ (formerly the Midwest RepRap Festival) in Goshen, Indiana, and at the Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival in Loveland, Colorado. Stop by, say hello, and see the spools in person.

EVERY SPOOL, EVERY TIME

Having come up through print farm life, we know a spool has to perform just as well on the thousandth print as it does on the first. Consistent color, bulk dried filament, and profiles tuned for your printer. That's the promise behind every School House Spools box we ship.

GIVING BACK

School House Spools is a proud partner and supporter of Make Good, the organization behind toddler mobility trainers. We're one of the official suppliers of hardware kits in the United States, and we also supply full filament kits for Make Good builds.

Our PETG gradients were brought in specifically with the toddler mobility trainers in mind, and we keep a large supply of TPU on hand for the trainer kits too. It's all for the kids, and it's some of the work we're proudest of.
